Doing these weekly downloads has made me listen to, and reflect on, a lot of stuff from what seems now like a long time ago.
Remember the first war with Iraq, the first George Bush? This track, "An Open Letter to George Bush," was written as the invasion unfolded. It was an odd time, to say the least.
A lot of folks are on this track, including Denney Goodhew, Bill Frisell, Doug Weiselman and others. Sometimes it's hard to tell who is doing what.
But you can clearly hear Bill's beautiful guitar voice in the first third of the piece.
As many of you know I am in the middle of raising money, via Hatchfund (
bit.ly/1SVtKGL ) for another project that is a collaboration with Bill: "Those Who Remain: Concerto for Orchestra and Improvising Soloist."
It was premiered by the Seattle Symphony in October, and I am looking to record it by the end of the year and release it by spring 2017. At the expense of sounding sentimental, it is truly a blessing to still be making music after 30 years with Bill, and a whole slew of wonderful musicians and artists I have met along the way.
I hope you will consider funding this endeavor, and I hope you enjoy the music.
